Paul Zarda Is Responsible For Moving The Engineering Community To Workstations

Paul Zarda is an Orlando based highly skilled professional with many years of working experience at Lockheed Martin. He is responsible for moving the engineering community to workstations, which resulted in an increase in computational capability and productivity. The transition from a VMS environment to Unix environment required a move that was led by the MCAE Analysis Group. The significant increase in productivity was welcomed by the engineering community.

He also has expertise in MCAE ( Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering) as well as KBE ( Knowledge Based Engineering). He supervised a Mechanical Design benchmarking team both at the local and corporate levels and also served as a Program Manager on DARPA’ s MADE and RaDEO program in Knowledge Based Engineering. This team received notable recognition from the Director of DARPA for their contribution in KBE methodology. Paul Zarda of Sanford also helped in acquiring a suitable communication link between IBM 3090 and VAX system. This process resulted in the interlinking of a hardware/software communication package that coupled IBM and VAX systems. This integration supported the foundation between IBM and DEC mainframes and the HP, DEC, IBM, and SG workstations.

He also acquired MSC/NASTRAN for structural analysis on the IBM 3084. Until this time, Lockheed Martin had been using structural analysis codes that were developed over 20 years ago, and were poorly documented and unsupported. This totally changed the way structural analysis was to be performed over the following years.

When Paul Zarda is not busy with his professional commitments, he likes to spend quality time with his family members, playing tennis and designing tennis racquets, and wood working in his home shop. Owing to his skills and expertise, he has established himself as a respected expert in his field.
